Battles of Charles the Bold and their Banners

1465 - Ligue du Bien Public - Montlhéry Battle

Pour ces planches, j'avoue avoir fait pas mal de recyclage. Il s'agit de la seule bataille rangée de la guerre de la ligue du bien public, première Bataille du Comte de Charolais, futur Charles le téméraire. On y retrouve donc Louis XI, accompagné de 2 lieutenants, Pierre de Brézé qui décédera lors de la bataille et du Comte du Maine qui lui, désertera la bataille. Les bannières se basent sur la principale Enluminure de l'époque et sur les bannières personnelles retrouvées dont les sources picturales sont jointes. 

Pour le côté Bourguignon, on retrouve les anciens lieutenants et Maréchaux de Philippe le Bon comme le comte de Saint Pol, et les futurs lieutenants du Téméraire, son demi-frère, Antoine le Grand Bâtard et le Comte de Clèves qui commandera à Guinegatte. Il s'agit donc de même de quelques recyclages de bannières. 

For these plates, I admit to having done a lot of recycling. This is the only pitched battle of the war of the league of the public good, the first battle of the Count of Charolais, the future Charles le téméraire. We find Louis XI, accompanied by 2 lieutenants, Pierre de Brézé who will die during the battle and the Count of Maine who will desert the battle. The banners are based on the main Illuminations of the time and on the personal banners found whose pictorial sources are attached. 

For the Burgundian side, we find the former lieutenants and Marshals of Philip the Good, such as the Count of Saint Pol, and the future lieutenants of the Bold, his half-brother, Antoine the Great Bastard and the Count of Cleves who will command at Guinegatte. It is therefore also a question of some recycling of banners.
