Le Combat des trente
Le combat des trente est un affrontement de 30 chevaliers Bretons mené par Beaumanoir contre 30 Chevaliers Anglais, Bretons et Allemands menés par Robert Brambroch qui se déroula le 27 mars 1351. Il s'agit d'un combat de type Pas D'arme entre deux camps. Ce Pas d'arme a de ceci de différent qu'il se fit à armes réelles et qu'il fut particulièrement violent avec plusieurs morts de chaque coté (10 à 17 pour les 'Anglais' 7-10 pour les Bretons). Cet évenement se déroula à proximité de Ploermel en Bretagne. La 'bataille' commence mal pour les bretons et sous forme de mélée confuse, avant que les anglais décident de mener la bataille en ordre serré. Au final, les Bretons arrivent à percer la ligne Anglaise et Bousculant les combattants et finalement forçant les anglais à se rendre à rançon. Cette passe d'arme outre l'aspect 'chevaleresque' du combat ne resout rien et n'avance aucunement aucun des deux partis. il sera popularisé par Froissart dans ses chroniques.
The Combat of the Thirty is a clash of 30 Breton knights led by Beaumanoir against 30 English, Breton and German knights led by Robert Brambroch, which took place on March 27, 1351. It's a Pas D'arme battle between two sides. The Pas d'Arme was different in that it was fought with live ammunition and was particularly violent, with several deaths on each side (10 to 17 for the 'English', 7-10 for the Bretons). The event took place near Ploermel in Brittany. The "battle" began badly for the Bretons, in a confused jumble, before the English decided to fight in close order. In the end, the Bretons managed to break through the English line, jostling the fighters and finally forcing the English to surrender at ransom. Apart from the "chivalrous" aspect of the battle, this "passe d'arme" solved nothing and advanced neither side. It was popularized by Froissart in his chronicles.
