XVth Century Banners - Burgundian guard banners

Pour le second pack de bannières, j'ai réalisé les bannières de la garde ducale. Outre les représentations sur les différents Fahnenbuch, les bannières ont été conservés en Suisses dans les musées principaux (Museum Altes Zeughaus, Solothurn).  La garde Ducale est composée d'une compagnie, (la première compagnie, puis Garde) ainsi que 2 compagnies d'archers Anglais.  Elles est composée de 126 Hommes d'armes, 126 Archers, puis 2 compagnies de gardes du corps d'archers anglais de 400 Archers complémentaires.  La garde est dirigée par Olivier de la Marche. Il s'agit des gardes du corps du Duc, elles sont mobilisées en permanence pour accompagner le duc dans l'ensemble de ses déplacements, quelque soit le moment. 

Il y a donc 4 bannières,  : 2 bannières à Saint Georges, avec une représentation de Type I et le motto du duc 'Je l'Ay Emprins'.  Je pense que la bannière à 2 queues était celle des hommes d'armes, l'autre devait être celle des archers (eut égard aux formes et dimensions). 

Les deux autres bannières sont de même forme et design avec de nouveau le motto du duc, son symbole (le briquet) ainsi que le monogramme C&M pour Charles et Marguerite (de York sa seconde épouse.) On notera que ces deux bannières sont aux couleurs du blason de la duchesse. 

For the second banner pack I made the banners of the ducal guard. Besides the representations on the different Fahnenbuch, the banners were kept in Switzerland in the main museums (Museum Altes Zeughaus, Solothurn).  The Ducal Guard is composed of one company, (the first company, then Guard) as well as 2 companies of English archers.  They are composed of 126 Men-at-Arms, 126 Archers, and 2 companies of English archers of 400 archers.  The guard is directed by Olivier de la Marche. These are the bodyguards of the Duke, they are permanently mobilized to accompany the Duke in all his movements, whatever the moment. 

So there are 4 banners : 2 banners in Saint Georges, with a representation of Type I and the motto of the Duke 'Je l'Ay Emprins'.  I think that the banner with 2 tails was the one of the men-at-arms, the other one must have been the one of the archers (considering the shapes and dimensions). 

The other two banners are of the same shape and design with again the duke's motto, his symbol (the lighter) and the monogram C&M for Charles and Marguerite (from York his second wife.) Note that both banners are in the colors of the duchess' coat of arms.
