XVth Century Banners - Burgundian militia banners

L'armée Bourguignonne était composée de la garde, des compagnies d'ordonnances (20 compagnies connues, certainement plus) et pour compléter cette armée d'un grand nombre de mercenaires, principalements Italiens comme Jacques Galeot (qui servira Louis XI par la suite). ou de milices locales, les plus connues étant celles des Flandres, il en existe beaucoup d'autres. 

Les Bannières suivantes sont recensées dans les divers ouvrages comme étant issues du butin des guerres de Bourgogne (avec parfois la date de la capture), Certaines sont même encore conservées dans des musées Suisses et sont visibles. 

Il est assez complexe de trouver à qui elles sont réellements associées : autant la bannière avec les arbalètes et le blason de la Franche-Comté est relativement facile, les autres ne sont associé à aucun blason connu, ce qui rend très difficile une attribution. Nous sommes donc obligé de se contenter d'une analyse de style et sur la bonne fois des affirmations des copieurs pour les associer à la Bourgogne. 

En tout cas, ces bannières sont utilisables pour des armées bourguignone ou Italienne de la période. 

The Burgundian army was composed of the guard, the companies of ordinances (20 known companies, certainly more) and to complete this army of a great number of mercenaries, mainly Italians like Jacques Galeot (who will serve Louis XI thereafter). or of local militias, the most known being those of Flanders, there are many others. 

The following banners are listed in various books as being from the spoils of the Burgundian wars (sometimes with the date of capture), some are even still preserved in Swiss museums and are visible. 

It is quite complex to find out to whom they are really associated: as much as the banner with the crossbows and the coat of arms of Franche-Comté is relatively easy, the others are not associated with any known coat of arms, which makes an attribution very difficult. We are thus obliged to be satisfied with an analysis of style and on the good faith of the assertions of the copiers to associate them with Burgundy. 

In any case, these banners are usable for Burgundian or Italian armies of the period.
